2008 Nutrition File Seminar

HEALTHY FROM THE INSIDE OUT: PRE- AND PROBIOTICS

In pursuit of optimal health and longevity, consumers are looking for ways to get more nutritional value from their food. There is a growing recognition that foods, or food components, can offer benefits beyond basic metabolic needs. The use of pre- and probiotics for health benefits, improved nutrition, disease prevention and treatment has exploded over the past few years. As public interest and awareness in this area continues to grow, and more products become available on the market, health educators will be challenged to provide current and accurate information on this topic.

Alberta Milk is pleased to bring you the annual Nutrition File Seminar. We have assembled a group of exceptional speakers to look at the role of pre- and probiotics in nutrition, health and well being. The potential benefits of pre- and probiotics in gastrointestinal health, bone health and women's health will be examined. The latest research will be reviewed and new directions for research will be identified.
